Little did he know that this particular flight would carve his name into the annals of aviation history, kickstarting a series of remarkable events high above the earthly realm.
Suspended at an altitude of 10,000 feet amidst clear skies and exceptional visibility, De Los Santos found himself amidst a peculiar setting. An hour into his journey, a strange grey, wingless entity seized his attention, lingering next to his Piper pa-24 Comanche aircraft.
This unusual sighting marked the beginning of a chain of mysterious incidents that challenged all logical interpretations.
Surrounded by confusion, he witnessed a small unidentified flying object with an air of mystique hovering above his left wing as he approached Mexico City. Despite the vast difference in size between his aircraft and the object, its enigmatic presence remained undeniable.
To add to the surreal experience, another object appeared on his right, while a third materialized right in front of him.
A wave of fear washed over him as he witnessed the object beneath his aircraft, feeling a sudden jolt reverberating through the plane. Fear gripped him as he realized his aircraft was no longer under his control.
The control yoke moved independently, pushing the aircraft to 3,000 meters, dangerously close to its operational limit. Further ascent posed the threat of a stall, potentially leading to a catastrophic loss of control.
Ascending further, De Los Santos grappled with the understanding that an imperceptible force, seemingly emanating from the UFOs, had taken command of his aircraft. His efforts to regain control proved futile.
In a frantic flurry of distress calls, he reported the presence of unidentified objects at his wingtips and below, hurtling towards mountainous terrain.
Suddenly, the three unidentified aerial phenomena (UAPs) veered off towards the Pobakatta Pedal Volcano at incredible speeds, releasing his aircraft from their grip. Despite managing to reestablish control, the ordeal was far from over; the impact had rendered his landing gear inoperable.
Displaying exceptional courage and resourcefulness, De Los Santos circled the airport ten times, using a screwdriver to manually deploy the landing gear. His successful landing bordered on the miraculous.
However, the narrative took an interesting twist. Without the corroborating testimony of Mexican Air Traffic Control, who also tracked these perplexing objects, the pilot’s reputation and career could have been in jeopardy. While the story made waves in Mexico, it remained relatively unknown in the United States.
Nevertheless, the intrigue did not end with the safe landing. In the following years, De Los Santos revealed being visited twice by mysterious individuals known as the “men in black,” who sternly warned him to keep quiet about his extraordinary encounter.
These secretive meetings occurred just before scheduled interviews with Mexican television networks and the renowned UFO researcher, J. Alan Heineck.
Despite the threats, De Los Santos eventually shared his extraordinary tale, solidifying it as one of the most captivating aviation UAP incidents on record.
